Kaleidoscope Cards for Kaisercraft"s Magazine

Well ladies, what a day it is here in Geraldine, New Zealand! RAIN, RAIN, RAIN - it really is time it stopped now. Christina, at Cardmaking Paradise in the UK, was saying they are enjoying some sun, at last.We have just about forgotten what the sun looks like - anyway better stop complaining and count all the positives, that abound round us. A nice warm workroom being one and being able to spend some quality time with my husband. He can't mow lawns today!!

Today I thought I would show you the cards that I made for the Kaisercraft's April Workshop Magazine, using the lovely Kaleidoscope collection. It really is a bright happy range, with lots of colour. In some ways it reminds me of their Secret Admirer collection, which was ever so popular.

This card is called a diorama card and there are plenty of tutorials on the web, if you would like to make it. I have made it a 5 1/4" square card as I am rather fond of this size lately. Quite a fun one to make, ladies.

For this card I used my 1 1/4" and my 1 1/2" circle punches, punching out various sizes and paper then attaching them to a piece of acetate, putting a frame round then mounting it all onto a basic card. I was thrilled with the effect- agree ladies!

Again, another 5 1/4" square card. You will notice I have used a Spellbinders Label Die but have placed it the other way. Tim Holtz rosette die was also used.

As I love chevron patterns, as well as stripes and spots, I just had to use this gorgeous paper! Loved putting it with the circles etc. Simple but effective, I think.

Must go and climb back into MY CAVE, as my neighbour calls it, and hibernate 'til the rain stops! Do hope you are all keeping warm and dry where ever you are and doing. Thanks for taking the time to check my ramblings and hope my cards give you some inspiration.

Blessings and happy crafting,

Random Cards

Hello ladies - sorry I have missed last week's post but I have been out of sorts lately, even to having a couple of nights in hospital for explorative tests, with some more to follow. Oh, the joys of getting older, well I presume it is! Am feeling a bit better today so I may get into my workroom later - I have another kit to put together for Artfull Crafts and am looking forward to that, putting all the ideas in my head into actual fruition.

Do trust you all had an enjoyable Easter break - the weather here wasn't the best but from the sound of it, it could have been a lot worse, as was the case further North.

These cards that follow are some I have been having fun putting together, for no particular reason. Hope you enjoy seeing them and get some ideas for your next cards.

This was a little challenge a friend gave us - by mistake she ordered  too many sheets of the Graphic 45, so gave us all a couple of sheets, to see what we could come up with. It is By The Sea range and this is one of my cards. As I am a Graphic 45 fan, I did enjoy this. I immediately thought of acetate and a window box card - it was all just made from the sheets that were given us, with a bit of fussy cutting.

This card is sort of a flip card, I think you would call it. Having part cut the two circles out then they are joined by the sentiment which gives the back a slight curve. I have used Kaisercraft's Honey Chai Collection.

I'm not too sure what you would call this card but I do like it a lot and once you have the basic shape, is very easy to put together.  You begin with two pieces of card the same size and I have used the double sided paper to get this effect. We first made it  6" square card but I have adapted it to a 5 1/4" as I prefer the smaller size. The papers are from My Minds Eye, the Now and Then range.

This final card is called a Block Card which folds down nicely, for posting. So, so cute and I have used Prima Stationer's Desk range which I just love. Don't you agree?

Well, I am going to sneek into my workroom now and see what happens - hopefully something!!

Thanks for taking the time to check this out. May you all enjoy your day and happy crafting or whatever you are doing. With many blessings to all,

Submitted Cards

Well, Winter has arrived, me thinks!! It is a rather cold dismal day today, certainly not an outside day. Just as well I have a lovely warm workroom, just need some mojo now!

As the title suggests, I submitted three cards for a Cardmaking competition run by Australia Simlpy Cards, back in November, of last year. Believe it or not, yours truely was chosen as one of the runner ups and received a lovely parcel of goodies. The winner was a Queensland lady, Anne-Maree Campbell and a big congratulations goes to her. Another runner up from New Zealand was Michelle Frisby, so as you can see, the competition was fairly stiff!!

Today I thought I would share these cards that I entered, as no doubt some of you will not be getting the magazine.

For this card I have used Curiosity Collection from Kaisercraft which came out in August of last year. The Spellbinders Grand Scallop Circles die was used to cut the card ends and for the centre I have used Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Squares. My favourite colours, of course!!

This collection I really enjoyed working with - Tropicana, a range that came out in December, 2012, of course, again from Kaisercraft. For this card I stamped on acetate, coloured the back of it with my Kaiserfusion pens, added another paper at the back then mounted the framed acetate. The frangipani flowers were moulded and 3D'ed. I used Dimension to put some shine on them.

What would one do without that Cherry Lynn Step Card Die, B348?  Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Pendant Circle die was used to cut the grey circle out. Tilda, from Magnolia Stamps, was coloured again with my alcohol pens. Handmade roses using the Marianne Rose Die and the collection used is Kaisercraft's Lulu & Roy from March 2013.

All today ladies, hope you enjoy seeing what I entered - I sure had fun doing so and the prize was well worth it. Happy crafting to you all and many blessings,

Betsy  xxx
